Solar Energy
The Environmental House is powered partially by 100% clean solar electricity. Electricity generated using energy from the sun is considered "renewable energy" as it requires no slow replenishing fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) or radioactive materials to produce. "Photovoltaic" systems such as the one in the Environmental House are an excellent way to reduce the impact of operating your home.

To learn more about solar electricity, open the PDF files below of the Environmental House's Solar Display Posters (coming soon) or check out the Solar Links section. To find out who can install a solar or wind system locally, visit the Washtenaw County Energy and Green Building Services Guide (coming soon).
